[Check-In
Procedures]
"Each station will be called
once." Call
a station only ONCE then WAIT for
ALL carriers to DROP.
If no response, move on!
When acknowledging
stations, a BRIEF signal report may
be added in case of a poor signal
(i.e. static, dropping out, etc). Do
NOT do late NYC-ARECS check-ins for
each Boro list, only after
Queens and again after traffic
passed. Being a directed net with
you as NCS, speak clearly and
emphasize capitalized words in the
script. Some stations may not be
able to hear the net clearly. Do NOT
rush through the script. Let your
carrier drop every few sentences. If
a station tries to cut in, get their
callsign first then ask if they have
an emergency. Otherwise they are to
wait their turn in the check-in
process. Never SHOUT into your
microphone, but remain calm and
in-charge.
[Net Control Station Script]
THIS
IS the New York City Amateur Radio
Emergency Communications Service Net,
meeting on Monday nights at 2030 Local
Time. The purpose of this Net is to
call together members of New York City
ARECS and to disseminate information
regarding emergency communications,
preparedness and related topics of
interest. This net is affiliated with
Radio-Relay International and is
available for the taking and relaying of
Radiograms. This is a DIRECTED NET and
all communications MUST GO through the
Net Control Station AT ALL
TIMES. Tonight your Net Control
Station is __________ (your
phonetic call, name and location). Is
there someone willing to act as an
Alternate Net Control should this
station go off the air? You will need to
have both Zello and a telnet or IRC
session to the packet chat turned on.
[Check-Ins]
At
this time I will take check-ins for the
Net in the following manner:
[BE VERY DELIBERATE
WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS] Net
Control will conduct a Roll Call by
Boro, of all the New and Active New York
City ARECS members on the current
membership roster. Each station
will be called only ONCE and the carrier
allowed to drop. [DEMONSTRATE IT] If
there is no response, Net Control will
move on to the next station on the
list. Please respond ONLY with your
callsign, OR your callsign and the word
TRAFFIC, if you have any traffic for the
Net. When you are acknowledged, Net
Control will respond with the PROWORD
"Roger."
Any
late check-ins that wish to join this
net will be checked in AFTER the Boros
by an open call-up. All late Zello
and/or packet chat check-ins will be
done by the Alternate Net Control during
this net's open call-up period ONLY.
After you ATTEMPT to check-in, if you
are unable to get into the net, feel
free to check into the N2NOV packet BBS
converse chat channel by using any
telnet client and going to [give the URL
phonetically] n-2-n-o-v-.-a-m-p-r-.-o-r-g on
port 2-3-0-0. After
logging in type C-O-N-V
at the prompt to join the conversation.
[Don't Forget Late
Check-Ins After Queens and Again
After Traffic Passed]
We
will now begin call up for tonight's New
York City ARECS Net. Give your callsign

& Location Requirements]
[Acknowledge the late
check-ins in order, then ask your
Alternate Net Control for Zello or
Packet check-ins]
[Traffic
Handling and Training]

will now proceed with traffic for the
Net.
